El Paso. Chicago. Dayton. After another week of senseless tragedy, the push for gun safety reforms is stronger than ever. So strong that even Donald
Trump came out in support of background
checks, too.
Then the NRA shut it down.
Yes, despite the fact that 97% of Americans support background checks for gun sales, the NRA is still spending millions lobbying against them.
We can't let them win.
Thanks to your efforts, we've put a lot of
pressure on the NRA, and we've been making progress. But, at the end of the day, their CEO Wayne LaPierre can still pick up a phone, call the President, and stop legislation that could actually save lives.
The NRA's blood money has already stalled Mitch McConnell and his GOP colleagues from bringing S. 42 to a vote. Now they're threatening Trump -- insisting that his supporters
won't vote for him if he supports common-sense gun reform.
So we want to make this loud and clear, for Trump, the NRA, and anyone else who is against gun safety reform: It isn't partisan to want to be able to go to school and return home safely.
It isn't partisan to want to end the bloodshed on our streets and in our homes each day. It isn't partisan to want to save lives.
America is dying. The NRA -- and everyone they've bought -- is complicit in our deaths.
