THE 75TH WORLD HEALTH ASSEMBLY RUNS FROM 22-28 May 2022

Delegations from the 194 World health organization member states will be attending the 75th World health assembly organized at the Palace of Nations Geneva Switzerland .
The annual assembly is the policy making organ of the Global health body , with ministers and or secretaries of health departments leading their national delegations and voting on behalf of their nations who must be in good standing financially .
This year , 10 new health scientists representing member states will replace 10 outgoing members of the executive board , whose three years term ends this 2022.
The assembly also elects and appoints the director general of the multilateral organization , an agency of the United nations . The five years term mandate of the first ever director general from Africa Ethiopia , TEDROS. G .A PhD ends in may 2022 . Dr, Tedros is the lone candidate for the post of director general for 2022 and will likely be reelected by member states when they meet this may 2022.
The WHA75 will be holding after the just ended Global Covid-19 summit 2022 co chaired by African Union president Senegal , G20 head Indonesia , G7 head Germany , Belize for Caricom and the United states .
The high level meeting on Non communicable diseases prepared the ground work for fellow colleagues to address chronic diseases in WHA75 .
Infectious diseases , like Covid 19 caused by Sars Cov 2 , mental health and drugs of abuse discussions will also take place .
The finances of the WHO and the pension scheme will feature besides the reforms requested by member states including the USA and members of the European regional body .
