After Covid 19 made it impossible for the 2020 international quilt festival to take place in person , many thousands of women from multiple countries returned to the Houston convention center for the 2021 world event .
Mme Karey Patterson Bressenhan , the founder and director emeritus of the international quilt festival says her heart goes to all who lost a love one to Covid 19 , acknowledging that the show looks different this year because participants and vendors factored in changes to address their health and wellness needs related to Covid 19 .
The international quilt festival remains the largest quilt show , sale , and quilt academy in the world with more than 1,200 quilts and pieces of textile art on display , 500 vendor booths , and 260 classes , lectures and events .
The works of different quilt artists are displayed in groups and or special sections , with Women from the the winterveld from South Africa sponsored by global artisans and curated by Richard Kennair depicting narratives during a whole year of Covid 19 while the Pandemic life in lockdown section shows other works related to Covid 19 fears , loss and sorrows .
The show is open to the public and tickets can be gotten on site at the Houston Convention center down town .
