Important Information for AIDS Walk

Weather: AIDS WALK TAKES PLACE RAIN OR SHINE!

Parking: Parking is free on Sundays on the streets of downtown Houston. Alternatively, check out this parking map or use a ride-sharing service.

Check-In: When you arrive for the Walk, check in at the Registration Tent, or if you signed up as a Green Walker, the Go Green Tent.

Registration Tent: The Registration Tent is prepared to receive cash, checks and credit card payments; verify your online donations; and give you an incentive voucher (if applicable).

Go Green Tent: The Go Green Tent is for those who did 100% of their fundraising online. Check-in at the Go Green tent to verify your donation total and receive your incentive voucher (if applicable). No checks or cash will be accepted at this tent.

Incentive Tent: There are three levels of fundraising incentives: $125, $500, $1,000. Note: Incentives are based on individual fundraising totals, NOT team fundraising totals. Once your donation total is verified you will receive a voucher for your incentives. You can make and take donations until the Walk begins! Incentives are not for sale. You can only get them by fundraising or donating!

Kid Zone: There will be a Kid Zone featuring face painters and balloon artists. Kids will have a blast with Ber Ber the Clown!

Pre-Walk Festivities: Enjoy our pre-Walk party in the park with emcees KG Smooth from Majic 102.1 and 97.9 The Box and OnAir Laura from Radio Now 92.1. Mixmaster Rob G from 97.9 The Box will be on hand to drop the beats. There will also be a performance by the Bayou City Performing Arts Chorus and a pre-Walk Zumba Warm-Up led by Anglica Murillo. Just before we step off, we will have a special announcement from the office of Harris County Precinct One Commissioner Rodney Ellis!

Snacks and bottled water are provided free! Yummy bites will also be available for purchase from the following food trucks: KIKPOPS, The Melt on Wheels, Moon Rooster, and Rich Boy Po Boy.

Live Walk Broadcast: Exclusive AIDS Walk Houston 2019 radio sponsors 97.9 The Box (KBXX), Majic 102.1 (KMJQ), and Radio Now 92.1 (KROI) will be broadcasting live from Sam Houston Park during the Walk!

Finish Line Festivities: Walk doesn't end with the Walk! Hang out with us for a bit and enjoy the music, food, and fun! The incentive tent will still be open as well.

FAST FAQ's:

•   AIDS Walk incentives are not for sale. The only way to receive them is to fundraise or donate the required amount. Incentives will not be mailed after the event. If you are unable to pick up your incentive(s) at the park, you will need to arrange for pick up at the AFH office at 6260 Westpark, Suite 100 during regular business hours.

•   The Walk is 1.8 miles (~3k) in length. Step-off is at 1 pm.

•    Street parking is free on Sundays in downtown Houston! Just make sure to watch for signs indicating restricted zones. Alternatively, check out this parking map or use a ride-sharing service.

•   Parks and Recreation Department Regulations prohibit dogs, amphibians, snakes and other reptiles that are considered dangerous. Alcohol is not permitted in Sam Houston Park.

Final Notes: We walk rain or shine, so come prepared if inclement weather is predicted! This is a no-cost registration, family friendly event where you can show your support and make a difference for the benefiting AIDS Service Organizations. Online registration ends at 3 p.m. Saturday, March 2nd, but you can register on site right up until the walk at the registration tent! You can also donate online anytime!
